This prestigious event is open to all teams.  You don't have to play in a regional tournament to qualify for this event.  This prestigious event is sanctioned by USARS, America's National Governing Body for Inline Hockey and the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, Inc.  This is the official USARS-USA Championships of Inline Hockey for the United States of America for Senior Men, Women and Youth Divisions.

COMPETITION:  4 Game Guarantee.  Teams will play four- seven games in the event.

 

LEVELS:  
Elite (AAA):  All teams advance to the bracketed playoffs after three pool games.
Competitive (AA) & (A):  There will be two levels of play in the 10U-12U-14U & 16U Boys divisions.  After pool play, all teams advance to the bracketed playoffs. Example: 24 teams enter the 16U Division. All teams receive three pool games. The Top 12 seeds advance to Tier One and seeds 13-24 advance to the Tier Two bracketed playoffs.

No athlete is allowed to compete in two levels in the same age division at the USARS-USA Championships

SCHEDULE: The tournament schedule will be posted online at www.aauhockey.org  www.penguinsbreakout.com & www.usarollersports.org  five to seven days after the final deadline of June 10, 2010.

PLAYING RULES:  The playing rules are by the NGB of the sport, USA Roller Sports.  Certified referees will be assigned to the event with the USARS Zone coordinator overseeing the competition.  There is no qualifier needed for any division.  You are allowed a minimum of eight (8) players on your roster, including a goalie and a maximum of 15 players.  This does not mean that eight or more athletes must be at the event.

AWARDS:  Event sponsor, AAU will present gold, silver and bronze medals to all members of each team placing in the top three in each age classification.  Team awards are given to the top teams in each division and age group. Free AAU Championship T-Shirt to all athletes/coaches.

AAU MEMBERSHIP:  All athletes and coaches must be a member of AAU or USARS.  The team manager must be able to present proof of their 2009-2010 membership numbers on their team roster at check in.  Register online at www.aauhockey.org or www.usarollersports.org

CHECK IN TIMES:  This will be posted online with the schedule.

ON-SITE CHECK IN:  There is mandatory check in for all teams participating in the 2010 USARS-USA Championships at the Bladerunner facility.  Team Managers must check their team(s) in prior to their first game.

FORMAT OF PLAY:

 A pool play system will be used.  There will be an even number of teams (if possible) in each pool.  Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of four (4) games.  Many teams will play five or more.  All teams will receive 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie.

GAME FORMAT:

 A two minute warm-up is allowed before each game.  There will be 16 minute halves with a rest period of one minute between halves.  The clock will stop in the last minute with a score within one goal or a tie.  Games ending in a tie during pool play will end in a tie and each team will be awarded one point in their pool play standings.  Only during the bracketed playoffs will a game go into a sudden death overtime period.

 

SKILLS COMPETITION: hundreds of dollars in prizes will be won during the skills competition. Additional skills details will be available closer to the tournament on the tournament web sites.

 

 

DEADLINE: June 10th Team Entry Form, roster and payment must be received by June 10th. Late entries may not be accepted! All fees are non-refundable. You may pay online or print and mail, fax or email the forms with a money order, cashier's check or credit card payment.
